Footage of Lil
Wayne reuniting on stage with former Cash Money Records group Hot
Boys has begun to circulate online and shows Weezy promising a
collaboration album.
The video shows Weezy bringing
out his past labelmates and informing audience members of their reunion.
"Say
y'all wanna see some Hot Boys sh*t, right?" Wayne asked. "So for 2009 we gonna go on
with the new Hot Boys sh*t...Make some motherf*cking noise for the Hot Boys!
Hot Boys is B.G. Lil Weezy. Young Turk. I
will pray to you [Turk]. Juvenile. Young Moolah baby. We ain't
finished though. Since we got everybody out, we gonna celebrate. Let me hear
the song ['Pop Bottles']. Young Money, Cash Money make noise!" (Forbez
DVD)
B.G. recently said the
Hot Boys reunion would be one of the biggest movements in music history.
"You
can look forward to that [reunion] coming real soon," he said in an
interview. "Real, real, real soon. We tying up the loose ends of the
paperwork right now, and hopefully we'll have that out this year...It's going
to be bigger than The Beatles...You know, at one point in
time, you couldn't get me to talk about it... You know, people go through
things, family go through things, but they sit down, talk it over, be real
about it, acknowledge their mistakes and move on." (Vibe)
The rapper also spoke on
the reunion earlier this year.
"It's
gonna be all the original members, it's gonna be me, Lil Wayne, Juvenile, Turk
is supposed to be coming home March 16th," B.G. said in an interview.
"We're gonna do it regardless because the streets keep asking for it...Mannie
Fresh created the Hot Boys sound; it's only right that Mannie Fresh
gives us that heat...Wayne made the deal; he came to us. He had a deal for a
soundtrack, and he wanted to make it a Hot Boys soundtrack. He reached out to
me and Juvenile...Before the reunion album, we're gonna' do an album which is
inspired by a motion picture." (Word of South)

After making a surprise
guest appearance at Hot 97's Summer Jam concert last night (June 7), Jay-Z
said his on-stage presence with T-Pain was not planned and
completely unexpected.
Talking
about performing "Death of Autotune (D.O.A.)," Jigga spoke with radio
personality Angie Martinez to say his record was not a diss
towards Jim Jones and describe Pain's appearance.
"This
is crazy, 'cause I didn't know where T-Pain came from," Jay revealed.
"I look and I see somebody to my right and I swear I thought it was a fan
and he was coming to hug me. I'm not even lying, not trying to be funny or take
shots. I thought this person 'cause I didn't see who it was 'cause he was
coming to hug me and I thought all right, that's some cool rock star stuff and
then I seen people move again and I look back again and think 'Is that...' I
guess he wanted to get close like 'Not me.' But it's really not him. It was a
little awkward and it was cool. I don't mind sharing a little bit...He didn't
mean any harm, he was just embracing the record...I'm not saying autotune is
wack...I'm not saying that, I just put a soundtrack to it, I put a voice to it.
If people wasn't feeling this way then the record wouldn't work the way it
would...The culture is bigger than the politics." (The Angie Martinez
Show)
Jay hit the Giants Stadium
stage along with other rap stars.
"Young
Jeezy...Jeezy brings out Drake. Crowd flips...'Best I
Ever Had' Now 'Put On' Jay-Z on stage. Jigga. Hova. Crowd. Flipping. 'Death of
Autotune' This is the death of autotune, moment of silence. T-Pain...Maino,
'All the Above.' Lil Kim." (XXLStaff's Twitter)
His new song caught the
attention of Jones who addressed Jay via Twitter.
"Above
all Summer Jam was dope," Jones wrote via Twitter. "And I
got to see Jay-Z who refused to get out of his van when he saw my pretty face.
We was mobbin', he's still a sucka...A old sucka. lol. We back and if he killed
autotune then we must be Easter the resurrection. lol Shouts to Soulja
Boy Tell Em, he ripped...I saw Jay-Z and Tata they
didn't say nothin but sit they a** down when they saw the Spartan 300's
lol...I'm glad to see I got everyone on Twitter's attention. I love Twitter,
it's trouble maker, good morning everyone." (Jim Jones' Twitter)
The track debuted last
Friday (June 5) via Hot 97 deejays Funkmaster Flex and Mister
Cee.
"Good-byyyyeeee,"
Jay raps in the chorus. "Only rapper to re-write history without a pen/No
I.D. on the track let the story begin, begin, begin/This is anti-autotune/Death
of the ringtone/This ain't for iTunes/This ain't for sing-a-longs/This is [Frank]
Sinatra at the opera/Bring a blonde, preferably with a fat a**
who can sing a song/Wrong, this ain't politically correct/This might offend my
political connects/My raps don't have melodies...May get your chain token/May
do it myself, I'm so Brooklyn/I know we facin' a recession, but the music y'all
makin' gon' make it the Great Depression/Or your lack of aggression/Pull your
skirt back down...This ain't a No. 1 record/This is practically assault with a
deadly weapon/I made this just for Flex and Mister Cee, I want people to feel
threatened." (Hot 97)
